Wycoller Monuments Project 4 – 26th February

For the first time, it didn’t rain (at least not much) and the sun even came out later on.

Work was therefore good and we finished clearing back the saplings growing out of the top of the back wall.  We left the overhanging holly and other branches as these shade the wall top, thus discouraging new growth.  The site is now ready for stump killing which is  to be done by the Rangers and another group on Tuesday.  The immediate risk to the monument has now been removed and, once the stumps are killed off, the next stage is to continue the clean up at a finer grain.
