Pendle’s Hidden Valley runs on the southern slopes from Portfield Iron Age Hill Fort, near Whalley in the west, through to Water Meetings, north of Barrowford, in the east, via the villages of Sabden and Newchurch. Strictly speaking, there are two valleys, Sabden Brook running south-west and Pendle Water running north-east with a watershed separating them at Moss Head, near Newchurch.
There are no roads which run the length of the valley but you can follow it by footpath where you will cross a series of ancient landscapes and buildings. There is a ridge-way running the length of the valley to the south where you can follow a narrow road for much of the valley’s length.
