Gardening Group meets up for first time

Just over a dozen Friends met at the barn on Friday 30th January to discuss setting up a gardening group at Pendle Heritage Centre. We were ably supported by Peter Aldred, the head gardener.

It was a good friendly meeting with plenty of ideas. Nine people wanted to help out in the garden, some having their own beds to look after. We also agreed a series of dates for a winter and spring programme of practical talks and visits. This will be uploaded to the calendar shortly. However, our first meeting will be a trip to the snowdrop gardens at Lytham Hall on Sunday 15th February. We were all given a copy of the guide called The Walled Garden at Park Hill from the bookshop.

If you are interested in joining, just email David at pendleheritage@gmail.com

We learnt that that the centre has appointed a new gardener, Jacqueline  MacNamara. She replaces Elaine who left in the Autumn.
