Park Hill staircase window

The Georgian staircase window of the Clerk’s House is unusual in having a variety of window types merged into one.

The reason was probably the need to gain as much light as possible while also having a window which was beautiful to look at. The window location is shaded by the two buildings either side and, in the days when the best artificial light was just a candle, people had to make the most of natural daylight.
