Museum and Walled Garden
The MUSEUM explains the fascinating history of Park Hill and the ancient Bannister family, including its modern descendant, Sir Roger Bannister, the first athlete in the world to run a sub 4 minute mile! It tells about the mysterious Pendle Witches of the seventeenth century and of George Fox, whose vision on Pendle Hill inspired the international Quaker movement. Learn about the vernacular buildings of Pendle Forest and how they have been conserved by the heritage centre.
GARDENS – Pendle Heritage Centre has a lovely cottage garden and a restored eighteenth century walled garden. Box parterres and historic plant varieties create a beautiful old-world character with changing scents and sensations throughout the year.
Pendle Heritage Centre is a Coffee Stop on Boundary Mill coach tours, where visitors can wander around the art gallery, shop, tourist information centre and garden free of charge, and also visit the museum for just £2.50 per person inclusive of VAT.
